Opto Eletrônica São Carlos Ltda. was established in mid-1985 coming alive the dream of its founders, researchers and technicians at the Physics Institute of USP in São Carlos. Aiming at producing the first laser at industrial level in Brazil, Opto was already deepening its knowledge on several today's laser actuation areas, such as: precision optics, special fine films, projects, laser for industrial applications, etc. The change in 1988 to Opto Eletrônica S.A. reflected the world globalization the company had been foreseeing, and its preparation to compete in this market. Opto was planned to be a modern company and above all, a company committed with the ideal of developing high technology in Brazil.
