The Sunswift Project was the brainchild of Byron Kennedy. When searching for a thesis topic in his final year of Electrical Engineering, Byron decided that it was all too boring, and would much rather race a solar powered car from Darwin to Adelaide in the World Solar Challenge. His mates from Baxter College, Mark Atkinson and Sascha Saharov, soon accepted the challenge to raise support for an entry into the 1996 WSC.
