The Luscar Coal Income Fund is an open-ended trust, governed by the laws of Alberta, that has invested in non-voting special shares and subordinated notes of Luscar Coal Ltd. and its subsidiary, Luscar Ltd. (collectively ''Luscar''). Luscar is Canada's largest coal company and one of the largest coal producers in North America. Luscar mines approximately 40 million tonnes of coal per year which is shipped to international steel producers, and utility companies in Canada and abroad for the generation of electric powerr.
